The story of a botanical artist

How does nature impact our wellbeing and mental health? How can it be incorporated more into everyday spaces?

These are all questions Diana asked herself over 15 years ago when she began painting and drawing. While working as a nurse for the NHS, she envisioned how spaces could be transformed to uplift mood and provide a calming environment.

With this in mind, she set out on a mission to use her talent to capture the beauty of nature and bring joy wherever it was featured.

The Creative Journey

01.

INSPIRATION

Diana lives in Cornwall, which, as you can imagine, provides a great environment for a diverse range of plant subjects to inspire her paintings. Diana produces many drawings from live plants to enable her to observe their habits and characters and record their fine details.

02.

Artwork

From these drawings, she uses a variety of media, such as graphite, ink, and watercolour, to compose her final pieces of work.

The Environment

Diana is keen to minimise the impact her practice has on the environment and is currently making charcoal, natural inks, paints, and paper from home-grown and locally sourced plants.

For me, it’s important that my work captures the true beauty of nature
and uplifts others
