Biography

Diana trained and worked as a nurse in the NHS for some years but painting and drawing have always been a passion. A diploma in botanical illustration enabled her to combine art with her love of plants. In 2022 she graduated with a BA(Hons) in art and design, during which time her work evolved into contemporary large scale botanical drawings. Health has always been a focus in her work and she is interested in the benefits art and nature have on wellbeing.

In 2018 Diana gained a silver medal for a bluebell illustration in a group exhibit at the RHS Botanical Art and Photography Show in London, which is now in a private collection. She is a painting member of the Eden Project Florilegium Society.

Living in Cornwall with its mild climate provides a great environment for a diverse range of plant subjects to inspire her paintings. She produces many studies from live plants to enable her to observe their habits and characters and record fine details. From these she uses a variety of media, such as graphite, ink and watercolour to compose her final pieces of work. She is keen to minimise the impact her practice has on the environment and is currently experimenting with natural inks and making paints from home-grown and locally sourced plants.
